We welcome you to AMP.

The DC Intensive will not only AMP us up for the upcoming year, reminding us of the ever important concepts of Ambition, Motivation and Perseverance, but it is intended to broaden the dancers' knowledge of dance while pulling from the depths of their potential to push them to their maximum abilities, in an uplifting and supportive environment!

DC's AMP Intensive promises a unique and challenging dance experience, one that will help dancers grow technically, artistically, and personally, and help them make connections with their teammates and peers! They will enjoy an exciting set of classes from a renowned faculty in various styles of dance that will expose them to lessons that they will take with them for the rest of their dance careers as students AND/OR as professionals!

Meet your Faculty

Tom Alexander

Tom Alexander, native of Thomasville, NC resides in Washington DC. Tom teaches Jazz, Tap, Lyrical and Musical Theater as well as Judges and choreographs nationwide for Dance Makers Inc., Southern Association of Dance Masters, Chicago National Association of Dance Masters, Spark Intensives and Dance Teachers United. He began dancing at age 12 with Master Teacher, Ray Hollingsworth and has worked with stars such as Debbie Reynolds, June Allyson, Van Johnson, Anne Miller, Cyd Charisse, Dolly Parton, Rita Moreno, Marie Osmond, Ella Fitzgerald and Bob Hope. First professional experience, Tom danced in stage productions at Carowinds, Busch Gardens, Tokyo Disneyland and Sanrio Puroland Theme parks. He has taught in Japan for Shojiku Kageki Dan and Osaka Kageki Dan National Dance Companies and performed, assisted his Artistic Directors and trained dancers for Crystal Cruises Luxury Cruise Ship Productions, where he co-choreographed many lavish productions. Dance Studio Life Magazine has featured Mr. Tom in May/June and September/October 2014 issues in two articles about Judging Dance as well as describing how dance has changed in the 30 plus years he has been in this business. Also in 2014, Tom was commissioned by CNADM (Chicago National Association of Dance Masters) to choreograph a jazz piece that would open their banquet show honoring legendary dancer, performer Anne Reinking with their Artistic Achievement Award. CNADM awarded Tom the prestigious award of Artistic Achievement in 2017. Mr. Tom has taught for Buffa’s Dance Studio Ltd in Burke, VA since 1984 and full time since 1996. Being a part of the DanceMakers Family since 1997, Tom takes pride in knowing that he is not only teaching dance steps, but giving valuable life lessons to all of his students in Responsibility, Discipline, Integrity, Respect, Dedication, Team Work and by paying back what was given to him countless times! Orialis Ashley

Orialis Ashley is from Puerto Rico and has been dancing since the age of seven. She has trained extensively in all genres of dance from ballet to hip hop, and through her training has earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from The Florida State University. After receiving her degree, Ms.Ashley joined the Denver based Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble in 2003. With the company she toured nationally and was a featured soloist in works by Talley Beatty, Christopher Huggins, and Alvin Ailey. After relocating to Los Angeles, Orialis expanded her dance career from concert work to commercial work. There she performed in music videos, stage shows and various industrials. She also had the privilege to work with Southern California dance companies including the Mark Goodman Tap company, Lula Washington Dance Theater and Liz Imperio’s Instincts Live Media. Her extensive background has enabled her to Instruct set award winning choreography all around the US. She presently resides in Southern California where she continues not only to train and perform as a professional dancer with the "Syncopated Ladies" but also shares her love of dance with her students.

Maggie Doty

Maggie Doty was born and raised in Southern California where she began training in dance at a young age. She earned her BFA Degree in Dance from California State University, Long Beach where she studied Modern, Ballet, Floor Work, Jazz, and Improvisation, to name a few. She currently stands as the Assistant Artistic Director of HEAT Dance convention where she travels the country directing events, judging competition, and teaching to thousands of dancers each year. Doty is currently represented by Go 2 Talent Agency and works professionally as a dancer, dance teacher, and choreographer in the Los Angeles area and beyond. In addition to her dancer training, Doty is a certified fitness instructor through the National Academy of Sports Medicine where she coaches classes in weight lifting, HIIT cardio training, barre, indoor cycling, and more. Doty is a huge advocate for strength training with dancers and is passionate about injury prevention and sharing her anatomical/physiological knowledge with her students in a practical, functional way.

Stanley Glover

Born and raised in Chicago IL, Stanley started training at the age of 13. From there he graduated from University of the Arts (BFA ‘16), taking summers to train at Pennsylvania Ballet. During his time there, Stanley competed on So You Think You Can Dance season 11. Some over works include Cirque Du Soleil Mystere and Balletx where he spent 4 seasons. At BalletX, Stanley received the Princess Grace award (Dance ‘19) and Stand out performance from Dance Magazine “On The Rise”. He also got to co-star on Fox’s the Big Leap season 1 playing Travell, as well as representing the haus of Tisci on HBO’s Legendary. Most recently, Stanley can be seen on Rosalia’s Motomami world tour and the 77th annual Tony awards with Ariana DeBose. Stanley is also a part of faculty on Heat dance convention educating in the styles of Ballet and Vogue performance.

Grayson McGuire

Grayson McGuire, born and raised in Kansas City, moved out to Los Angeles in 2012 to pursue a career in the commercial dance industry. Grayson has danced for artists such as Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Kali Uchis, Twenty One Pilots, Helene Fischer and more. As well as dancing commercially, Grayson also focuses equal energy towards teaching and choreographing, having taught all over the world at studios in Hong Kong, Singapore, Mexico, Greece and more. In 2020, Grayson and his choreography partner Shiori Kamijo won first place at the Capezio Ace Awards, under Break the floor productions, a prestigious choreography competition seeking out the most innovative upcoming choreographers in the dance industry. Grayson’s style infuses elements of classical ballet with the athleticism and groove of hip hop and jazz.

Melissa Miles

Melissa has been working in the LA commercial dance industry as a dancer and choreographer for many years now. A former Millennium Dance Complex and Debbie Reynolds instructor, She currently teaches an advanced jazz class at The EDGE in Hollywood. She was also asked to be the new international instructor at Broadway Dance Center Tokyo. Melissa performed on the AMA’S with Swizz Beatz, Chris Brown and Ludacris. Other artists she has danced for include European superstar Little Boots, Lil Mama, Kirk Franklin, TATU, Lil’ Bubba, and Gloria Gaynor. She has danced on the hit tv show 90210, The Latin Grammy’s, Miss USA Pageant, and the Mtv Movie Awards. She has also danced for Adidas, PlayStation, Armenian Music Awards, Med Assets, and a USO European Tour for our U.S. Troops. You can also catch her dancing in the new national commercial for Dish Network. Melissa has choreographed an industrial for Ducati, a commercial for Jacuzzi and multiple music videos. Melissa is a choreographer and former performer of “All Wheel’s Extreme,” a high energy extreme sports show you may have seen on America’s Got Talent. Melissa is also one of their rehearsal directors. Melissa was dance choreographer for Aerial Ice, who was also showcased on America’s Got Talent. During her time as choreographer at Knott’s Berry Farm, Melissa choreographed The Haunt stage shows “Psycho Circus of Magic and Mayhem” part 1 and 2, “Ed Alonzo’s Funhouse”, “The Hanging” and “Bloomination.” She had the opportunity to work with Tyce Diorio preparing choreography for So You Think You Can Dance season 8 top 20 routine. Melissa has traveled internationally dancing, teaching, and choreographing throughout France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Korea, Mexico and Canada. She spent the last decade spreading her passion as a member of the faculty on The STREETZ dance convention, and was one of the first technical judges for World of Dance Panama! Most recently, Melissa worked on the TV shows Penny Dreadful, City of Angels, Perry Mason, and Carpool Karaoke! In 2022, Melissa joined the Dance Faculty at Hussian College In Studio, Los Angeles, where she teaches Jazz and Jazz funk. Housed on- site at the famed LA Center Studios, it is the first and only school of its kind!

Sidney Ramsey

Originally from South Carolina, Sidney Ramsey (she/her) grew up dancing at Columbia City Jazz before moving to California to attend the University of Southern California. When she graduated college in 2021, Sidney became the USC Glorya Kaufman School’s first student to double major, earning a BFA in Dance and a BA in Health and Human Sciences. After dancing with companies in Canada and Hungary, Sidney has had the opportunity to perform works by choreographers like William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, Alexander Ekman, and Paul Taylor. Long-term, Sidney hopes to explore both how rigorous dance training impacts aging and how recreational dancing can act as a universal wellness intervention. In August, Sidney is excited to be joining the Saarländisches Staatstheater in Saarbrücken, Germany.

Kevin Sameski

Kevin Sameski is a professional dancer, educator, and choreographer based bicoastally between Los Angeles and New York City. He is represented by Clear Talent Group and has danced with artists such as Karol G, Daya, Megan Moroney, John Summit, and as an assistant choreographer for Tinashe. Prior to embarking on his professional endeavors, Kevin attended 3 years at Pace University as a member of the Commercial Dance program where he studied choreographic tendencies and styles such as Ballet, Jazz, Fosse, Vernacular, Hip Hop and more. He has since taken the industry by storm and we are so excited to welcome him into our space!

Macy Swaim

Macy Swaim is a professional dancer, choreographer, and educator based in Los Angeles, CA. Known for her versatility, Macy has trained extensively in contemporary, hip hop, ballet, heels, jazz, and jazz funk. Originally from Jacksonville, FL, she moved to LA at 19 to pursue her career and has since worked with top artists including Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, Melanie Martinez, Camila Cabello, Charlie Puth, Zedd, Maren Morris, Kanye West, Julianne Hough, and many more. She has performed under the direction of renowned choreographers such as Charm La’Donna, Nina McNeely, Sara & Calvit, Dana Foglia, Kyle Hanagami, Galen Hooks, Parris Goebel, Brian Friedman, Zachary Venegas, NappyTabs, and Hi-Hat. As a choreographer, Macy’s credits include work for Tate McRae, Destin Conrad, and Boom Chicka Pop. As an educator, Macy brings her diverse training into the classroom, fusing styles to challenge and inspire her students. She blends the flow and athleticism of contemporary with the energy and precision of hip hop, creating a dynamic and empowering environment. Macy is passionate about helping dancers tap into their individuality, build confidence, and connect through movement—fostering a class culture rooted in community, expression, and joy.
